The HERTEL 2386902 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-production drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and general industrial applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in repetitive drilling operations. The 135-degree split point geometry provides fast penetration and self-centering entry without a center punch. At 27/64 inch (0.4200 inch) diameter and 3-3/8 inches overall length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and is well suited for use in drill presses, CNC machines, and hand-held power drills. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
Screw machine length drill bits are shorter than jobber-length bits, giving them greater rigidity and reduced deflection in close-tolerance or production drilling environments. This bit is rated heavy duty grade, making it appropriate for ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, and plastics where consistent hole diameter and finish are required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks. The 2-inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for the intended material range of 0.4000 to 0.4500 inch diameter hole applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitution drill bit for applications requiring a 27/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank screw machine length bit in standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet systems.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard drill press, lathe, or power tool setups. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation to prevent slippage. Power down and de-energize any machine tool before changing bits. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for appropriate feed rate and spindle speed for the material being drilled.
