The HERTEL 2385821 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-production drilling in metal fabrication, machine shop, and general industrial applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide coating, this bit measures 3/32 inches in diameter with a 1-3/4 inch overall length and a 3/4 inch flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust force needed to start a hole. The web-thinned, parallel web configuration improves chip evacuation and keeps the cutting edge engaged efficiently through the material.
This drill bit is suited for use in CNC machines, drill presses, and hand-held power drills where a short, rigid bit is needed to minimize deflection. The screw machine length profile — shorter than jobber length — makes it well suited for tight-clearance drilling operations and fixtures that do not allow full-length tooling. Right-hand spiral flute geometry moves chips away from the cutting zone in standard right-hand rotation setups. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the typical end users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-supply drill bit for any standard three-jaw chuck or collet system accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 3/32 inch diameter class.
Secure the shank fully into the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent rotation. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use, as a dull bit increases thrust and can lead to work-hardening in some alloys. Machining professionals should follow applicable shop safety procedures and manufacturer feed-and-speed recommendations for the specific material being drilled.
