The HERTEL 2341816 is a bridge reamer designed for enlarging and aligning holes in structural steel, heavy fabrication, and ironwork applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers controlled material removal through a 5-flute, left-hand spiral configuration that provides a right-hand cutting action. The 11/16-inch cutting diameter and 4-1/2-inch flute length make it well-suited for through-hole finishing operations where alignment between structural members is critical. Machinists, ironworkers, and fabrication shops rely on this type of reamer when bolt holes need to be brought to final size and concentricity before assembly. The straight shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and pneumatic reamers used in field and shop environments.
This bridge reamer is used in structural steel fabrication, bridge construction, heavy equipment assembly, and ironwork where misaligned or undersized holes must be brought to final tolerance. The 1-1/16-inch straight shank diameter accommodates heavy-duty drill motors and reamers common on job sites and in fabrication shops. The left-hand spiral flute geometry helps push chips forward and reduces chatter during aggressive material removal in mild and structural steel. It is appropriate for both shop and field use where a consistent, clean final hole diameter is required prior to fastener installation.
Designed as a standard bridge reamer for use in structural steel fabrication and ironwork applications requiring a 11/16-inch finished hole diameter with a straight 1-1/16-inch shank drive interface.
This reamer is installed and operated by machinists, ironworkers, or fabricators using a drill motor, pneumatic reamer, or drill press capable of accepting the 1-1/16-inch straight shank. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped or secured before reaming to prevent movement and maintain hole alignment. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for steel to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Always wear appropriate eye protection and gloves when operating rotary cutting tools.
