The HERTEL 2290260 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal cutting applications. Ground from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent sizing and smooth bore surfaces in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It measures 13/32 inch (0.4062 inches decimal) in diameter with a 7-inch overall length and a 1-3/4 inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. Six right-hand cutting flutes distribute cutting load evenly and help maintain size accuracy through the full depth of the reamed hole. Machinists and tool room operators use this reamer as a finishing step after drilling to achieve tight diameter tolerances.
This chucking reamer is suited for general-purpose machine shop work, job shop production, and maintenance repair operations. It is sized for through-holes and blind holes in the 13/32 inch range, making it a common choice for pin fits, bushing bores, and precision locating holes. The straight-flute geometry works well in most materials including mild steel, aluminum, brass, and cast iron. It is intended for use in a drill press, lathe tailstock, milling machine, or CNC machining center with appropriate cutting fluid applied at the tool-workpiece interface.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or collet holder sized for a straight-cylindrical shank in the 13/32 inch diameter class.
This reamer is a finishing tool and should be used after the hole has been drilled to within 0.005 to 0.015 inches of final size — do not use it to remove large amounts of material. Secure the shank fully in a drill chuck or collet and verify runout before starting the cut. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material throughout the operation. Withdraw the reamer while it is still rotating to avoid marking the bore surface.
