The HERTEL 18674 is a straight-shank countersink designed for deburring, chamfering, and countersinking operations in metal fabrication and machining applications. It features a 7/8 inch head diameter and a 120-degree included angle, making it suited for fastener seat preparation and edge finishing on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The four-flute geometry promotes smooth cutting action and reduces chatter. Constructed from high speed steel, this countersink holds an edge through repeated use in production and maintenance machining environments. It is installed and used by machinists, toolmakers, and metal fabricators working with drill presses, CNC machines, or hand-held power tools.
This countersink is applied in general-purpose metalworking tasks where a 120-degree chamfer angle is required, including countersinking for flat-head fasteners and edge-breaking on drilled holes. The 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and tool holders commonly found in machine shops and on the plant floor. It is appropriate for both production runs and one-off maintenance work where consistent chamfer geometry is critical to fit-up and fastener flush-seating.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink compatible with standard 1/2 inch drill chucks and straight-shank tool holders used on drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers.
This tool is used by machinists and fabricators in machine shop and production environments. Secure the 1/2 inch shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Always power down the machine and bring the spindle to a full stop before installing or removing the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve finish quality.
