The HERTEL 18276 is a single-flute countersink designed for creating angled seat holes in metal and other materials prior to fastener installation. Built from high speed steel (HSS), it delivers the hardness and heat resistance required for production drilling and general machining work. The head diameter measures 1/2 inch with a 100-degree included angle, making it suited for applications where standard 82-degree or 90-degree countersinks are not the specified geometry. The 1/2-inch straight cylindrical shank seats securely in drill chucks and standard tool holders. Machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This countersink is used in machine shop, fabrication, and maintenance environments where precise countersinking of fastener holes is required. The 100-degree included angle is a less common specification, typically called out on engineering drawings for aerospace, military, or custom fastener applications. It is suited for bench drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held drill motors when used at appropriate speeds for the material being worked. Sold as an individual unit.
Designed as a direct-use countersink for drill presses, milling machines, and hand drills accepting a 1/2-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use on steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials where a 100-degree countersink angle is specified.
This tool is installed and used by machinists and maintenance technicians in shop or field environments. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent rotation. Use cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Do not exceed the recommended surface footage for high speed steel tooling in the material being cut.
