The HERTEL 16IRZAG55HG330T is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This is a right-hand insert with a partial profile 55-degree thread form, covering a pitch range of 48 to 8 TPI (0.50 to 3.00 mm pitch). With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1614-inch thickness, this insert is sized for standard laydown toolholders. It is installed and changed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for internal threading in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a 55-degree partial thread profile is required. Typical applications include cutting unified thread forms on through-holes and blind bores in residential and industrial component manufacturing. The 48 to 8 TPI range makes it versatile across a wide variety of thread pitches encountered in general machining. It seats in 16IR-style laydown toolholders and is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per order.
Designed for use in 16IR-style laydown threading toolholders. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and clamping system compatibility before installation. No additional specific model compatibility data was provided in the product input.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a powered-off and locked-out state. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert properly — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Verify thread pitch and TPI settings in the machine control before running the first threading pass.
