The HERTEL 16691446 is a straight-flute carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasion-resistant workpiece materials. Built from C2-grade carbide with a bright, uncoated finish, this two-flute bit measures 0.302 inches in diameter and delivers a 140-degree notched point angle for accurate entry and reduced thrust in tough alloys. The web-thinned construction lowers cutting resistance at the center of the bit. With an overall length of 2.8125 inches and a flute length of 1.625 inches, it is suited for controlled, shallow-to-moderate depth drilling operations in precision machining and fabrication environments.
This drill bit is intended for use in metalworking applications where consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required. Primary and secondary workpiece materials include chrome alloy, heat-treated alloy, nickel alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, and titanium alloy. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling setups where rigid toolholding is maintained. The straight-flute geometry makes it well suited for drilling short-chipping materials where chip evacuation with a spiral flute is unnecessary or counterproductive.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for metalworking operations requiring a straight-flute carbide drill bit in the 0.302-inch diameter range, corresponding to Letter Size N.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the drill is secured in a rigid, precision toolholder or chuck appropriate for carbide tooling before operation. Carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel; avoid lateral loads, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or drop impacts that can chip the cutting edges. Always follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speeds and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material and tool diameter.
