The HERTEL 15071288 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) mill diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 3/16 inch shank diameter, giving it a compact profile suited for tight-tolerance work. The 4-flute, single-end geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flute promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry, expanding its versatility on manual mills and CNC machining centers. The bright/uncoated finish is appropriate for use on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This end mill is used in job shops, production machining environments, and toolrooms where small-diameter, close-tolerance milling is required. Typical applications include slot milling, profiling, and contouring in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar machinable materials. Its 2 inch overall length keeps deflection low at this diameter, which is critical when maintaining dimensional accuracy in precision cuts. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for both conventional and climb milling passes.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill suitable for use in standard milling machine collets and CNC tool holders accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully and evenly in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and can fracture if mishandled or dropped.
