The HERTEL 15071287 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-accuracy milling operations in metal, composites, and other hard materials. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length with a 0.5-inch shank diameter. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Manufactured from micrograin carbide, this end mill delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for demanding production environments. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into workpieces, adding to its versatility on the shop floor.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling work including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Its uncoated, bright finish makes it a practical choice for aluminum and non-ferrous applications where coating adhesion or built-up edge can be a concern. The regular-length profile fits standard milling setups on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Machinists and toolroom technicians running high-speed or CNC milling operations will find this tool fits directly into common collet and end mill holder systems.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank square end mill fitting collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders sized for 1/2-inch shank tooling on vertical machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum recommended insertion depth and torque the retention screw or collet nut to the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, particularly for finish passes where surface quality is critical.
