The HERTEL 1000679 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG324 style, designed for precision metal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured under the KENDEX series, this uncoated insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry. It carries a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/16-inch corner radius, and an overall insert length of 16.50 mm (0.6496 inches). The HT10 grade identifies the carbide substrate, suited for demanding turning applications. Installation is handled by a clamp-type holding method, and the insert is neutral-hand, making it adaptable to both right- and left-hand toolholders where the TPG seat is used.
This insert is intended for use in general turning applications on CNC machining centers and manual lathes across light manufacturing and job shop environments. It is primarily applied to non-ferrous metals and superalloys (workpiece material groups N and S), with secondary suitability for cast iron and stainless steel materials (groups K and M). Maximum depth of cut reaches 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Machinists and CNC operators in production environments handling exotic alloys, aluminum, and similar materials will find this insert appropriate for finishing and light roughing passes.
Designed as a TPG324-style replacement insert for standard clamp-type toolholders accepting triangular TPG inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle seat. Compatible with KENDEX series tooling systems.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator using a standard torx or hex key to seat and clamp the insert in the toolholder pocket. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is removed or secured before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat for debris or wear before seating a new insert, as contamination can affect tool height and runout. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque and do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the insert size.
