The HERTEL 1000137 is a left-hand MSKN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for use on CNC and manual turning centers. It features a negative rake geometry and a 15-degree lead angle, making it well-suited for heavy interrupted cuts and general-purpose external turning operations. The toolholder accepts SN..43. series inserts and uses a clamp-and-screw insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating. The square shank measures 0.75 inches wide by 0.75 inches tall, with an overall length of 4.5 inches. Construction is steel throughout. Machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This toolholder is intended for external turning applications on lathes and turning centers where a left-hand cutting orientation is required. The negative rake configuration performs reliably with carbide inserts on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 15-degree lead angle helps direct cutting forces toward the chuck, reducing deflection on slender workpieces. It is a single-purpose, non-coolant-through tool suited to dry or flood-coolant setups using external nozzles.
Designed to accept SN..432 series indexable inserts with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. Part of the Multi-Option series. Verify insert pocket geometry and lead angle requirements against your turning center specifications before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the lathe or turning center is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before mounting or removing the toolholder. Seat the toolholder squarely in the tool post or turret and torque the clamping bolts to the machine manufacturer specifications. Insert installation should follow the insert manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the insert or damaging the pocket.
