The HERTEL 04141164 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty holemaking in ferrous and abrasion-resistant materials. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements at the start of the cut. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in high-cycle production environments. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. This bit is built for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators who need consistent performance drilling through hardened steel, stainless, and other tough alloys.
This jobber drill is suited to general-purpose holemaking on drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held power tools in both shop and field settings. The 25/64 inch diameter places it in the 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch decimal range, commonly called out in structural, mechanical, and piping applications where close-tolerance holes are required. A right-hand spiral flute clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. No coolant-through capability is present, so external cutting fluid or air blast is the standard method for heat management.
Designed as a standard jobber-series replacement drill bit compatible with any drill press, CNC machining center, or hand-held power tool equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a 25/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should follow standard machining safety practices. Secure the bit fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before drilling. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid or coolant to manage heat when drilling ferrous or stainless materials, as this bit has no internal coolant-through channel. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear or chipping after extended use and replace the bit when edge condition degrades to avoid oversized holes or workpiece damage.
