The HERTEL 02387934 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for drilling into low and medium tensile strength materials where a standard shank diameter is too large for the spindle or chuck in use. The bit measures 63/64 inch (0.9844 inch) in diameter with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing use in standard 1/2 inch capacity chucks even at near-1-inch drill diameters. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3 inch flute length and a 118-degree standard point angle. Constructed from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling tasks performed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and general metalworking trades.
This drill bit is appropriate for drilling operations in low and medium tensile strength materials including mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar workpiece materials. The reduced shank design makes it compatible with 1/2 inch capacity drill chucks and spindles on drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held power drills in both shop and field environments. The right-hand spiral flute configuration with regular spiral type provides efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations at moderate feed and speed rates.
Designed as an OEM-style reduced shank drill bit for use in 1/2 inch capacity chucks and spindles on drill presses, milling machines, and compatible hand-held power drills. Rated for low and medium tensile strength workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drilling operations and machine tool setup. Ensure the drill press, mill, or hand-held drill is powered off and de-energized before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck. Secure the shank fully within the chuck jaws to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth and verify concentricity before initiating cuts. Do not exceed the recommended drilling depth of 3 inches per pass without retracting the bit to clear chips.
