The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 88509 is a single-end, corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. Built from solid carbide and coated with Tplus for enhanced wear resistance and heat tolerance, this tool features a 1/8 inch diameter cutting edge with a 0.0100 inch corner radius, 5 variable-pitch flutes, and an integrated chipbreaker geometry. The variable pitch flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration during cut, and the chipbreaker promotes efficient chip evacuation in tough, stringy materials. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard on this configuration.
This end mill is suited for precision milling operations in stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium, and other difficult-to-machine high-temperature materials. With a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 2-1/2 inch overall length, it fits standard CNC machining center setups and manual mills where a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank is appropriate. The centercutting design allows plunge entry. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and contouring in aerospace, medical, and industrial component machining where material work-hardening and heat generation are primary concerns.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the Helical Solutions Stainless and High Temp 5 Flute Corner Radius Variable Pitch Chipbreaker series, optimized for stainless steel and high-temperature alloy applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe state before tooling changes. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder matched to the 1/8 inch shank diameter to ensure concentricity and minimize runout. Verify tool projection and stick-out against the programmed depth of cut and workpiece fixturing before initiating any cutting cycle.
