The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 88038 is a single-end, corner radius end mill designed for high-performance aluminum milling applications. Built from solid carbide, it measures 3/8 inch in diameter with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and a 0.1250 inch corner radius. The 35-degree helix angle is optimized for aluminum alloys, promoting aggressive chip evacuation and reducing built-up edge. A Zplus coating further improves lubricity and tool life in non-ferrous cutting environments. This tool is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and features a right-hand flute direction with right-hand cutting. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find this tool well-suited for finish and semi-finish passes in aluminum.
This end mill belongs to the Aluminum Series - 3 Flute - Corner Radius - 35 Degree Helix family, purpose-built for milling aluminum and other non-ferrous materials where clean surface finish and efficient chip removal are priorities. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life compared to sharp-corner end mills. It is commonly used in vertical machining centers and CNC routers for profiling, slotting, and pocket milling operations in aluminum plate, billet, and extrusion work. The straight-cylindrical shank at 3/8 inch diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders, including ER collet chucks and end mill holders. Optimized for aluminum and other non-ferrous alloys per the Aluminum Series designation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Confirm the collet or tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank, and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to maintain tool life and surface finish quality.
