The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 87598 is a 6-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. It measures 0.125 inches in diameter with a 5/32-inch (0.1562-inch) length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. The tool carries an APLUS coating for extended tool life and heat resistance in ferrous machining applications. A variable pitch (variable index) geometry reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. The reduced neck design provides extended reach of 1.0 inch beyond the shank transition, enabling access in deep pockets and stepped features. This end mill is installed by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel and stainless steel components in both roughing and finishing passes where chatter control is critical. The reduced neck and extended reach make it well suited for deep-pocket profiling, slotting, and contouring where standard-length tools cannot reach. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand flute tool with a straight shank for use in standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Typical applications include aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining where ferrous and high-temp alloy materials are common.
Designed for use in the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Steels series, specifically the 6 Flute Square Variable Pitch Reduced Neck line. Compatible with standard straight-shank collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 1/8-inch shank. Intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys per material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists using a calibrated torque wrench and appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool to confirm proper alignment and minimize premature wear. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine OEM guidelines for speed and feed parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
