The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 87528 is a 5-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It carries a 5/8-inch diameter, a 2.125-inch length of cut, and a 0.0150-inch corner radius, making it well-suited for both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. The Tplus PVD coating adds wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life in abrasive and hard-to-machine workpiece materials. The variable-pitch flute geometry helps reduce harmonic chatter, improving surface finish and dimensional accuracy at higher feed rates.
This end mill is engineered for use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability in non-ferrous metals and hard materials. It fits into the HEV-5 series from Helical Solutions, a line built specifically for difficult-to-machine alloys common in aerospace, medical, and energy sector components. The straight cylindrical shank pairs with high-precision toolholders for maximum runout control. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling professional would typically deploy this tool in a vertical or horizontal machining center for finishing passes requiring tight corner geometry.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials. Part of the Helical Solutions HEV-5 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling specialist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Use a high-precision collet or hydraulic toolholder to keep TIR within the specified 0.0005-inch maximum for optimal tool life and surface finish. Do not exceed the recommended runout tolerance, as excess runout accelerates flute wear and can cause premature tool failure in hard materials.
