The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 87148 is a 7-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to the HEV-7 series specification, it features a 0.0100-inch corner radius, a 1/4-inch mill diameter, and a 1-1/4-inch length of cut. The Tplus PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened steels. Variable pitch geometry reduces harmonic vibration and chatter during aggressive cuts. This tool is intended for use in CNC machining centers by experienced machinists and tooling specialists working in precision manufacturing environments.
The 87148 is engineered for roughing and finishing operations on stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials including hardened steel. Its long-reach geometry and 3-inch overall length make it suitable for deeper cavity work and pocket milling where standard-length tools fall short. Secondary workpiece compatibility includes steel and cast iron. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet-style and high-precision toolholders, making it a practical choice for tight-tolerance production runs and aerospace or medical component work.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Secondary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Always power down and lock out the CNC spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or toolholder to minimize runout; the maximum rated TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or coating wear before each use and replace the tool if damage is visible.
