The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 86101 is a 3-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 0.0100 inch corner radius, and a 0.7500 inch length of cut. The Zplus PVD coating optimizes performance in aluminum and non-ferrous metals while also handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The variable pitch, right-hand helical flute geometry helps reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation. This tool is sized for high-precision toolholders and is used by machinists and CNC tool-and-die professionals in production environments.
The 86101 belongs to HELICAL SOLUTIONS Series H40ALV-3, a line built for demanding multi-material applications. Its primary application is aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, making it suitable for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in precision machined components. A straight-cylindrical shank and 2.5 inch overall length make it compatible with standard high-precision collet and shrink-fit toolholder setups used in CNC machining centers.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders including collet chucks and shrink-fit holders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal (Material Code N); secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials (Material Codes P, M, S, H). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS Series H40ALV-3.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are fully de-energized and at rest before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder bore and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0003 inch TIR maximum before production cutting. Consult the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and follow shop SOP for speeds, feeds, and coolant strategy appropriate to the workpiece material.
