The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 84729 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the HSV-4 series platform, it features a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter, a 0.50 mm (0.0200 inch) corner radius, and four flutes with a variable pitch configuration. The Tplus PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting difficult workpiece materials. This single-end, centercutting tool handles both roughing and finishing operations, making it a practical choice for shops running stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened steel on CNC machining centers.
The 84729 is intended for precision CNC milling operations where corner radius geometry is required to reduce stress concentrations at part features. Its stub length-of-cut profile and straight-cylindrical shank make it well suited for use in high-precision toolholders on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes M, S, H). Secondary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (material codes P, K). Verify toolholder bore and runout specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. The straight-cylindrical shank requires a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout at the tool tip does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before beginning the cut cycle.
