The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 84626 is a 5-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel and ferrous materials. Built on a variable-pitch (variable index) geometry, it reduces harmonic vibration and chatter at the spindle, which extends tool life and improves surface finish in demanding cuts. The 1/8-inch diameter with a 1-inch length of cut (LOC) makes it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and finishing passes in tight geometries. The Aplus coating provides elevated hardness and heat resistance, keeping the cutting edges sharp under the thermal loads common in steel milling. Overall length is 2.5 inches, and the straight cylindrical shank is 1/8 inch in diameter.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and high-speed machining cells working primarily in steels and other ferrous alloys. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand helical flutes are standard for conventional CNC programming. Its center-cutting capability allows it to plunge directly into material, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath strategy without requiring a pre-drilled entry point. It is a single-end tool sold individually, making it a practical replacement or supplemental cutter for production and job-shop environments.
Part of the Helical Solutions End Mills for Steels - 5 Flute - Square - Variable Pitch series. Designed for use in CNC machining applications involving steel and ferrous materials where a 1/8-inch diameter, single-end square carbide end mill is required.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the first cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
