The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83557 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 7/32 inch length of cut, and a 40-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in aluminum. Three flutes with a variable pitch (variable index) design reduce harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. The reduced neck geometry extends reach to 1.5 inches, allowing access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. The bright, uncoated finish is well-suited for aluminum, where coatings can cause built-up edge. This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling operations.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills cutting aluminum, soft alloys, and similar non-ferrous materials. The single-end, right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration suits conventional and climb-milling applications. The reduced neck and extended reach make it appropriate for pocketing, slotting, and profiling operations where clearance is limited. It is sold individually and is part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series with a 3-flute, square-end, 40-degree helix, variable pitch, reduced neck design.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills performing aluminum and non-ferrous milling operations. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series: 3 Flute, Square, 40-degree Helix, Variable Pitch, Reduced Neck.
Installation is performed by machinists using an appropriate collet or end mill holder matching the 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank. Ensure the spindle and machine are fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Confirm runout within acceptable limits for the holder and spindle before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to improper handling.
