The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83536 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for high-performance milling in both roughing and finishing applications. It features a 3/8-inch diameter cutting edge, a 1/2-inch corner radius (0.1250 inches), and three flutes arranged in a variable-pitch spiral configuration with a 40-degree high helix angle. The Zplus PVD coating provides thermal resistance and lubricity suited to aluminum and non-ferrous metals, while also handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Single-end, centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. This tool is designed for use in high-precision toolholders and is targeted at machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments.
Primary applications include high-speed machining of aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The long-length flute design (1-1/2 inches length of cut) supports deeper axial cuts without tool changes. The H40ALV-3 series is engineered for dynamic milling toolpaths where variable pitch reduces harmonic chatter. This end mill suits applications on vertical machining centers and horizontal mills where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are required.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals (material code N); secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials (material codes P, M, S, H). Part of the H40ALV-3 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting edge before engaging the workpiece; TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0003 inches. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before initiating any cut.
