The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83156 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for aggressive roughing in stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened steel. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 0.03-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding materials. The 6-flute, variable-pitch design with an integrated chipbreaker geometry promotes chip evacuation and minimizes chatter during heavy material removal. The Tplus PVD coating adds thermal and wear resistance. This tool is intended for use in CNC machining centers and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in precision manufacturing environments.
This end mill is built for milling stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and hardened steel. It is suited for roughing passes where corner strength and chip control are critical. The chipbreaker geometry along the flutes breaks chips into manageable segments, reducing heat buildup and tool deflection. It is designed for use with high-precision toolholders to maximize runout control, with a TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard 0.5-inch collets and end mill holders.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Secondary compatible materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-C-6 series.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom personnel. Seat the shank fully in a high-precision collet or end mill holder to maintain TIR within specification. Verify toolholder runout before operation, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on a 6-flute tool. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque on the toolholder drawbar.
