The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83151 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for aggressive roughing in stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, hardened steel, and cast iron. The tool measures 3/8 inches in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut, a 3 inch overall length, and a 0.03 inch corner radius. Six variable-pitch flutes with a chipbreaker geometry reduce cutting forces and break chips efficiently during high-feed roughing passes. The Tplus PVD coating provides heat and wear resistance suited to the demanding thermal conditions found in stainless and superalloy machining. This end mill is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments.
The 83151 is engineered for milling stainless steel, high-temperature alloys including titanium and superalloys, hardened steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with a straight cylindrical 3/8 inch shank, making it compatible with high-precision toolholders. The variable-pitch flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during deep-cavity and shoulder milling operations. The chipbreaker geometry makes it particularly well-suited for long-reach roughing passes where chip evacuation is a concern. Typical applications include contouring, slotting, and pocketing in production or prototype machining.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron; secondary materials include non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium. Part of the HEV-C-6 series of variable-pitch corner radius chipbreaker roughers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Use a torque wrench and follow the toolholder manufacturer specifications when tightening collet nuts or set screws. High-precision toolholders such as shrink-fit or hydraulic chucks are recommended to stay within the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification for this tool.
