The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82980 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to the HEV-5 series specification, it features a 0.25-inch mill diameter, a 0.0100-inch corner radius, and a 0.75-inch length of cut. The Tplus PVD coating is engineered for extended tool life in abrasive materials. Variable pitch geometry reduces harmonics during cutting, making this tool well suited for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in precision metalworking environments.
The 82980 is a single-end, straight-shank end mill with a 0.25-inch shank diameter and a 2.5-inch overall length. It is rated for primary use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary application in non-ferrous metals and hard materials. It is compatible with high-precision toolholders and is intended for use in vertical or horizontal machining centers running right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute spiral. The regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for standard-depth profiling, slotting, and contouring operations where corner integrity is critical.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials. Part of the HEV-5 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling operations. Secure the shank fully within a high-precision toolholder to achieve the rated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches; insufficient clamping depth will degrade runout and tool life. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Follow shop-specific feeds, speeds, and coolant protocols appropriate for the workpiece material being machined.
