The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82956 is a 5-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. With a 1/4 inch mill diameter and a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, this tool delivers the rigidity and edge retention required in demanding production environments. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter, improving surface finish and extending tool life. The Tplus coating provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance, making it well suited for the elevated cutting temperatures common in ferrous and high-temp alloy machining. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops and manufacturing facilities are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both roughing and finishing passes. The single-end, straight shank design fits standard ER and set-screw tool holders with a 1/4 inch bore. The 3 inch overall length provides clearance for most standard vertical and horizontal machining center setups. It is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and side milling operations where chip evacuation and tool stability are critical. The helical right-hand flute geometry paired with center-cutting capability allows for plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling paths.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Stainless and High Temp 5 Flute Square Variable Pitch series. Fits any tool holder accepting a 1/4 inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates carbide edge chipping.
