The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82916 is a 7-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in ferrous and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. It features a 1/2-inch mill diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and a 5/8-inch (0.6250 inches) length of cut. The Tplus PVD coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, making it well suited for aggressive roughing and finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened steel. Variable index geometry reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during the cut. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in aerospace, job shop, and industrial manufacturing environments are the primary users of this tool.
The 82916 is built for precision milling applications where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry. The stub length format and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with high-precision toolholders including shrink-fit, hydraulic, and precision collet systems. It is best applied in CNC machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the HEV-C-7 series.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Secure the 1/2-inch straight cylindrical shank in a high-precision toolholder to maintain TIR within specification. Verify runout before initiating a cut; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces corner radius accuracy. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer and machine tool builder guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut based on workpiece material.
