The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82720 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. Built to Series H45AL-C-3 standards, it features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, 0.0100 inch corner radius, and three flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 45-degree high helix angle. The Zplus PVD coating reduces friction and extends tool life in aluminum and non-ferrous cutting environments. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch length of cut, this single-end centercutting tool handles both plunge and peripheral cuts. It is intended for use in high-precision toolholders to maintain runout within spec. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This end mill is rated primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The coarse pitch and 45-degree high helix promote efficient chip evacuation in gummy materials like aluminum. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry. It is suited for milling operations where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities, particularly in aerospace, automotive, and precision machining environments where aluminum is the dominant workpiece material.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code N); secondary materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials (Codes P, M, S, H). Series H45AL-C-3.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank in a high-precision toolholder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0003 inch TIR maximum before engaging the workpiece. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before tool changes. Do not exceed the rated length of cut of 3/4 inch to avoid deflection or tool breakage.
