The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82471 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill engineered for aluminum machining. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter with a matching straight-cylindrical shank, a 40-degree helix angle, and a variable index pitch design that reduces harmonic vibration during cuts. The reduced neck geometry provides extended reach of 1.312 inches, making it suitable for profiling and slotting operations where clearance is required. The bright, uncoated finish is optimized for non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion can be counterproductive. Machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments specify this geometry for its chip evacuation efficiency in aluminum.
This end mill is intended for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials in both conventional and high-speed milling applications. The extended reach and reduced neck allow access to deeper features and pockets without requiring a longer overall tool. The 3-inch overall length and center-cutting capability support plunge entry as well as peripheral milling. It is suited for CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers running aluminum structural components, mold bases, and general-purpose aluminum profiles.
Designed for use in standard straight-bore end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series: 3 Flute, Square, 40 Degree Helix, Variable Pitch, Reduced Neck.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge-line depth per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
