The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82319 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. With a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes arranged at a variable index pitch, this tool delivers smooth cutting action and reduced chatter. The Tplus PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 5/8 inch length of cut, this is a stub-length, single-end, centercutting tool suited for rigidity in tight setups. It weighs 0.225 pounds and belongs to the HSV-4 series.
This end mill is engineered primarily for stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, superalloys, titanium, and hardened steel. It also performs well in steel and cast iron applications as a secondary material class. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, making it suitable for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations where full engagement or ramp entry is required. The stub length configuration keeps deflection low, which is critical when machining difficult-to-cut materials at elevated feed rates. Compatible with high-precision toolholders to maintain TIR within specification.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened steel (material codes M, S, H). Secondary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron (material codes P, K).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications to stay within the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
