The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81794 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Measuring 3/8 inch in diameter with a 1/2-inch length of cut and a 0.50 mm (0.0200 inch) corner radius, this tool is built for both roughing and finishing operations on steel, cast iron, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The 5-flute geometry with variable pitch delivers superior chip evacuation and reduced harmonic vibration. An APLUS PVD coating extends tool life in abrasive and heat-generating cuts. This end mill is appropriate for machinists and tooling specialists operating CNC milling equipment in precision manufacturing and job shop environments.
The 81794 is suited for applications in aerospace, die and mold, and general machining where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical. Its extended reach design, with a 1-5/8-inch reach length and a 0.3560-inch neck diameter, allows access to deep pockets and stepped features without sacrificing rigidity. Primary workpiece materials include low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron. Secondary applications include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The single-end, centercutting configuration supports both plunge and conventional milling paths. This tool is designed for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain TIR within 0.0005 inch.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-RN-5 series. Compatible with CNC milling centers capable of accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an E-stop or tool-change state before inserting or removing end mills. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder to the recommended gauge line before tightening; do not overhang beyond the specified reach length. Use high-precision collet or hydraulic toolholders as specified to maintain TIR at or below 0.0005 inch and prevent premature tool wear or breakage.
