The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81763 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, cast iron, and related ferrous materials. It carries a 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) corner radius and is finished with an APLUS PVD coating, which extends tool life in demanding cuts. The 1/2 inch diameter cutter runs on a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank and offers a 1-1/4 inch length of cut with a 3 inch overall length. Variable pitch flute spacing reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during both roughing and finishing passes. This tool is part of the HEV-5 series and is suited for shops running precision toolholders where runout control matters.
This end mill is intended for milling steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction, making it compatible with standard CNC vertical and horizontal machining center setups. The regular length profile fits most production milling scenarios without requiring extended reach. High-precision toolholders are recommended to take full advantage of the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification.
Designed for use in high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, N, S, and H). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-5 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and verify runout does not exceed 0.0005 inch TIR before cutting. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and tooling documentation for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material. Do not exceed the tool's rated geometry for the material class being machined.
