The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81749 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.0150 inch corner radius, five flutes, and a 1 inch length of cut. The tool carries an APLUS PVD coating, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life in abrasive ferrous materials. With a right-hand cutting direction and variable pitch, it is engineered to reduce harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. This is a single-end, center-cutting design suited for roughing and finishing operations. It is installed in CNC machining centers by machinists and tooling specialists working in production and job shop environments.
This end mill is designed for use on steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability on stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The HEV-5 series is built for high-efficiency milling strategies, making it appropriate for applications where both material removal rate and surface finish matter. It is recommended for use with high-precision toolholders to take full advantage of its 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification. Typical install scenarios include 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling centers in aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing settings.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-5 series, suitable for roughing and finishing operations on steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool release is engaged before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a high-precision collet or toolholder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to confirm TIR is within acceptable limits.
