The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81728 is a 5-flute corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with a proprietary APLUS PVD coating, this single-end tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. The mill measures 0.1875 inches in diameter with a 0.5625-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. A 0.0150-inch corner radius reduces edge chipping and extends tool life in demanding cuts. Variable pitch geometry minimizes harmonic vibration, improving surface finish and allowing more aggressive feed rates.

This end mill is suited for machining steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits into the HEV-5 series, which targets shops running high-efficiency milling strategies on CNC machining centers. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in high-precision toolholders, making it appropriate for tight-tolerance work in job shop, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision collet or toolholder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer specification before use. Confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply flood or mist coolant externally as required by the workpiece material.
