The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81718 is a 5-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/8 inch diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.0100 inch corner radius that adds edge strength and reduces chipping on finished workpiece corners. The APLUS PVD coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during aggressive cuts. With a variable pitch design and right-hand cutting and flute direction, this tool is built to handle both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. It is installed and run by machinists and CNC tooling professionals working in precision manufacturing environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The single-end, centercutting geometry allows plunge entry and full-width profiling. Its 2 inch overall length and 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with high-precision toolholders used in small-diameter, tight-tolerance applications. The HEV-5 series variable pitch construction helps suppress chatter and vibration during deep-pocket and side-wall operations, making it a practical choice for close-tolerance finishing passes as well as material removal cuts.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron. Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the Helical Solutions HEV-5 series.
This tool is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in milling machines and machining centers. Always secure the shank in a clean, high-precision toolholder to maintain the specified maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches. Confirm spindle runout and toolholder condition before use, as excess runout will accelerate wear on small-diameter carbide end mills. Do not exceed recommended depth-of-cut or feed parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
