The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81559 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for aluminum milling applications. It features a 3/8-inch diameter, three flutes, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in non-ferrous materials. With a 3/4-inch length of cut and a 2-1/2-inch overall length, this single-end tool delivers aggressive material removal while maintaining dimensional accuracy. The bright, uncoated finish is matched to aluminum and other soft, gummy materials where coatings can cause built-up edge. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments rely on this geometry for finishing and roughing aluminum components.
This end mill is suited for milling aluminum alloys, including wrought and cast grades, in vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and manual knee mills. The 45-degree helix reduces cutting forces and improves surface finish on aluminum. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard ER collets, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders sized for 3/8-inch tooling. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is retired when the cutting end is worn rather than indexed or reversed. Typical applications include pocketing, slotting, profiling, and shoulder milling in aluminum fabrication and aerospace part production.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in 3/8-inch toolholders including ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and Weldon-style end mill holders on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth per the toolholder manufacturer to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish.
