The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81482 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill engineered for aluminum milling applications. It features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-1/2 inch overall length. The 40-degree helix angle and variable pitch index design reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation in non-ferrous materials. A Zplus coating provides additional lubricity and edge protection. The reduced neck geometry extends reach to 2-3/4 inches, making it well suited for deeper pocket work without sacrificing rigidity. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments will find this tool a reliable choice for high-efficiency aluminum cutting.
This end mill is designed for use in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials where aggressive material removal and clean surface finish are priorities. The variable index flute spacing and 40-degree helix work together to minimize harmonics during high-speed machining. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard collets and end mill holders. The center-cutting capability allows plunge entry, expanding its utility in pocketing and slotting operations. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard collet systems accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Intended for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials per the End Mills for Aluminum - 3 Flute - Square - 40 deg Helix - Variable Pitch - Reduced Neck series designation.
Install in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the part. Follow your machine tool's lockout and toolchange procedures before handling or swapping cutters.
