The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81468 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance aluminum machining. With a 1/8 inch cutting diameter and a 40-degree helix angle, it moves chips aggressively and reduces heat buildup in aluminum alloys. The Zplus coating adds lubricity and surface hardness, extending tool life in non-ferrous applications. A variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and dimensional accuracy. The reduced neck design provides extended reach of 1 inch beyond the shank, allowing access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. Qualified machinists and CNC operators install and run this tool in precision milling applications.
This end mill is built for aluminum milling operations in both job shop and production environments. It is suited for profiling, slotting, and pocketing in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials where chip evacuation and finish quality are priorities. The 5/32 inch length of cut, 3-inch overall length, and straight cylindrical 1/8 inch shank make it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The single-end configuration is standard for this tool class. The reduced neck geometry is especially useful when cutting features deeper than the flute length allows on a standard end mill.
Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series featuring 3-flute, square profile, 40-degree helix, variable pitch, reduced neck geometry. Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path program is confirmed before loading the tool into the holder. Use an appropriate collet or end mill holder matched to the 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before running production cuts to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
