The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81427 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. It features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and three flutes arranged in a variable-pitch spiral configuration. The 40-degree high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, which is critical when cutting aluminum. Overall length is 2 inches with a 1/2 inch length of cut. The tool is single-end, centercutting, and uncoated (bright finish), making it well suited for applications where coating buildup on aluminum would be a concern. Licensed machinists, CNC programmers, and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is part of the H40ALV-3 series, engineered primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. The variable-pitch flute geometry reduces harmonic chatter during high-speed profiling and slotting operations, improving surface finish and tool life. While aluminum and non-ferrous metals are the primary workpiece materials, the tool is also rated for secondary use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It is recommended for use with high-precision toolholders to take full advantage of the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR specification.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use high-precision toolholders to stay within the specified 0.0003 inch maximum TIR and maintain dimensional accuracy. Verify runout at setup before committing to a production cut. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed, feed rate, and depth-of-cut recommendations for the specific workpiece material.
