The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81418 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance aluminum milling. It features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 2-3/4 inch length of cut, and a 40-degree helix angle optimized for chip evacuation in non-ferrous materials. The Zplus coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum, aluminum alloys, and similar soft metals. Variable pitch flute indexing reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. This is a single-end, centercutting tool with a straight cylindrical shank, suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill is engineered specifically for aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. The 40-degree helix promotes efficient chip flow and reduces heat at the cutting edge, making it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in aluminum plate, billet, and extrusion work. The variable pitch design helps suppress chatter during high-speed and high-feed passes. It is appropriate for both job shop and production environments running aluminum aerospace, automotive, and general fabrication components.
Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series, 3-flute square profile with 40-degree helix and variable pitch. Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines with standard straight-cylindrical tool holders accepting a 3/4 inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
