The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 59872 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.06 inch corner radius, and a 1/2 inch length of cut. The Tplus PVD coating is applied specifically to extend tool life in demanding, heat-generating materials. Variable pitch flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, and the centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. This tool is a stub-length, single-end design with a straight-cylindrical shank, intended for use in high-precision toolholders by experienced machinists working in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments.
The 59872 belongs to the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-5 series, engineered for roughing and finishing operations in stainless steel and high-temperature alloys including superalloys and titanium. It is also rated for secondary use in non-ferrous metals and hard materials. The stub-length profile keeps overhang minimal, improving rigidity in tight setups and multi-axis machining centers. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation make it compatible with standard CNC spindle configurations. No coolant-through capability means external coolant or air blast is the appropriate delivery method for chip evacuation and heat management.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials (ISO codes N and H). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-5 series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following established shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully within a high-precision toolholder to stay within the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. External coolant or air blast should be directed at the cutting zone to manage chip evacuation, as this tool does not have coolant-through capability.
