The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 59049 is a single-end corner radius end mill ground from solid carbide and designed for high-efficiency material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metals. It carries a 0.030-inch corner radius and a 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 35-degree helix angle. The Zplus PVD coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum and other gummy non-ferrous alloys. At 0.25-inch diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut and 2.5-inch overall length, this tool fits standard 1/4-inch straight-shank toolholders. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry. Machinists and tool-and-die shops running production or prototype work on CNC mills will find this tool suited for both roughing and finishing passes.
The 59049 is primarily targeted at aluminum and non-ferrous metal machining but carries secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The coarse pitch and medium helix style support chip evacuation in deep-pocket and contour work where aluminum can pack. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life compared to a sharp-corner end mill in the same application. High-precision toolholders are recommended to take full advantage of the 0.0003-inch maximum TIR specification.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling applications. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal; secondary compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H35AL-3 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a collet chuck or high-precision shrink-fit holder rated for 1/4-inch straight-shank tooling. Verify toolholder runout meets or exceeds the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum before running at full feed and speed. Follow the machine tool manufacturer lockout procedure before changing tooling. Do not exceed the rated depth of cut for the 0.625-inch length of cut to avoid deflection or chatter.
