The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 49075 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for milling aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/4 inch diameter cutting edge, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 3-flute configuration with a 40-degree high helix angle. The variable pitch flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration during cuts, which improves surface finish and tool life. At 2 inches overall length with a straight cylindrical 1/4 inch shank, this is a stub-length tool suited for rigid setups. It runs uncoated and is ground to h6 shank and diameter tolerances, making it a direct fit for high-precision collet chucks. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this tool for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup.
This end mill is intended for use on aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 40-degree helix promotes chip evacuation in gummy, soft metals like aluminum, reducing built-up edge. The stub length-of-cut geometry keeps deflection low in high-feed applications. Typical install scenarios include pocket milling, contour finishing, and 3D profiling operations where a ball nose profile is required for blended radii and curved surface work.
Designed for use on aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS Series 3 Flute Ball 40 Degree Helix Variable Pitch End Mills for Aluminum Alloys and Non-Ferrous Materials line. Fits standard 1/4 inch collet chucks and tool holders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR rating before beginning a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and can fracture if used with damaged edges or in incorrect workpiece materials.
