The Zplus PVD coating is optimized primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, though the tool is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. The 40-degree high helix promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the variable pitch geometry helps reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The 48746 is built around the H40ALV-3 series platform, which targets aluminum and non-ferrous machining as its primary application while extending capability into ferrous and exotic alloys as secondary workpiece materials. With a 5 inch overall length and a straight cylindrical shank, it fits standard high-precision toolholders used on vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry, and the right-hand flute spiral with right-hand cutting direction suits conventional CNC toolpath strategies. It is appropriate for both production shop and job shop environments requiring a single-end tool with consistent corner geometry.
