The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48631 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. With a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 1-5/8-inch length of cut, and a 0.060-inch corner radius, this tool handles the precision demands of production machining. The three-flute, right-hand spiral design features a variable pitch and a 40-degree high helix angle that promotes chip evacuation and reduces chatter. A Zplus PVD coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3/4 inch in diameter, making it compatible with high-precision toolholders. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians use this end mill in milling centers and machining cells.
The 48631 is designed primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications, and it carries secondary ratings for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, giving the tool versatility across profiling, slotting, and ramping operations. At 4 inches overall length with a regular-length flute configuration, it fits standard tool length offsets in most machining centers without extended-reach concerns. It is sold as a single-end tool, one unit per package.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal (material code N); secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials (material codes P, M, S, H). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and verify runout does not exceed the rated TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches before cutting. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool length offsets and feeds and speeds for the target workpiece material.
