The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48475 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. Built to Series H40ALV-3 specifications, it features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 40-degree high helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The 0.090 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at cutting edges, extending tool life in demanding applications. With a variable pitch design and right-hand flute direction, this three-flute end mill minimizes chatter and delivers consistent surface finishes. It is centercutting capable, allowing plunge entry when the operation requires it.
This end mill is primarily engineered for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Its 4 inch overall length and straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank make it compatible with high-precision toolholders used in CNC milling centers. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in aerospace, general machining, and die-mold environments where tight tolerances and surface quality are required.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling applications. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully in a high-precision collet or toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0003 inch TIR maximum before beginning a production cut.
