The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48406 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in precision machining applications. It features a 1/2 inch (0.5000 inch) mill diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and a 1.2500 inch length of cut. The three-flute, single-end design incorporates a variable pitch, right-hand helical flute geometry and a Zplus PVD coating optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous metals. With a 3.0000 inch overall length and 0.5000 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this tool is built for use in high-precision toolholders where runout control is critical. It is rated for both roughing and finishing operations.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. The H40ALV-3 series is engineered for shops running tight-tolerance work where surface finish and tool life must be balanced. It is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry, which adds flexibility in complex contouring and pocket milling setups. The variable pitch design reduces harmonic vibration, making it a practical choice for high-speed machining strategies.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the H40ALV-3 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use a high-precision toolholder rated for the intended spindle speed and application to stay within the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR specification. Verify shank seating depth and clamping torque according to the toolholder manufacturer guidelines before operation. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use.
