The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48276 is a 3-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling across a wide range of materials. Built to the H40ALV-3 series specification, it features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a Zplus PVD coating optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous metals as the primary workpiece material. The 0.060-inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. Variable pitch geometry and a high helix style work together to reduce harmonic vibration and improve chip evacuation in demanding cuts.
This end mill is suited for precision machining environments where both surface finish and material removal rate matter. It handles aluminum and non-ferrous metals as primary applications and is rated for secondary use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry and full slot cuts. It is intended for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain runout within the stated TIR of 0.0003 inches.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Mill diameter and shank diameter both hold h6 tolerance at 3/8 inch, making this end mill compatible with collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders machined to that standard. Refer to toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm bore tolerance match.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification before spindle operation. Verify runout at the cutting edge does not exceed the stated TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches using a dial indicator before production cuts. Do not exceed the rated length of cut or apply side loads beyond the tool geometry limits, as solid carbide end mills are brittle and can fracture under excessive deflection.
